There’s a lot of competition coming next year in the world of crossover fighting games. With the arrival of MultiVersus WB in 2022 and the end of Smash Brothers, this will be a big competition between the two new content media giants coming to the game.
However, MultiVersus appears to be one of the games players have been looking forward to, as Nick All-Star Brawl launched, missing many of the features players wanted in the base game. While Ludosity and GameMill have fixed some of the bugs by adding alternate costumes and free DLC characters like Garfield to the game, there are still a few other things players have been asking for. Luckily, it looks like the players were heard, and there will be some major changes to the game coming out next year.
Appearing on a Hungrybox stream, the developers of Nick All-Star Brawl appeared to announce several updates and new features for the game.
The developer in question is named Diego Hernandez, the art director who worked on the title. Although other developers have appeared on Hungrybox streams during the game’s launch, this is the first time content has been confirmed for the title through this method. Speaking with Hungrybox, the developer revealed several long-requested features that will be added to the game.
The first thing Hernandez mentioned was that crossplay will be coming to the game in Q1 2022. Although the game was initially going to launch with crossplay, there were problems. The developer wanted extra time to check the game’s netcode and make sure it was ready before releasing crossplay to the title. Now, it looks like they’re finalizing the final adjustments to the netcode for the title, as crossplay will launch in 2022. This will allow players from all platforms to make their friends their favorite characters.
Released on December 9, Garfield joins the ranks of Nick All-Star Brawl after Viacom acquired the rights to Paws Inc. This brings the famous cat into the fray, and with the new map and moves, Garfield is a fun time for players. Plus, it’s a nice surprise since he’s a free character. Now, Hernandez says another free character is on the way. They plan to announce the character soon, which means the character could be announced around the end of the month, or sometime in January.
However, they did say that the game is getting “one more free character.” Hernandez explained that more DLC characters will be added, implying that players will have to start paying for more characters in Nick All-Star Brawl. Hernandez mentioned that he thinks players will be “very excited” about the new line-up of characters coming to the title.
What the next free character will be is unknown. However, there is a strong possibility that Shredder will be the next free character to arrive in the game as he is the second most complete character in the title file, besides Garfield.
Although Hernandez didn’t say it outright, he did say that his latest announcement was that developers were “hearing” their calls for the most requested feature, and they would “hear” it soon.
Hungrybox got excited during the stream and said whether Hernandez said it directly or not. The developer did not deny his claims but raised his hand to say that it was not his place to make such remarks.
This is one of the most requested features in the game. Since all the characters don’t say anything during the fight, players feel the game is less than perfect. This became a matter of debate for the game, even Warner Bros. used the addition of voice acting to their MultiVersus titles as a selling point to get players interested in the game.
For Nick All-Star Brawl, the scope of who will receive dialogue and how many characters will receive it was not revealed. Additionally, who is involved in this project has not been revealed. While there has been no full confirmation regarding the inclusion of voice acting, the developer’s claims could mean that they are in the planning stages of introducing character audio into the game. The status is not yet complete enough for a proper announcement.
Regardless, it’s good to let players know that the developer is listening to requests for one thing that will bring the title to life.
Overall, it looks like Nick All-Star Brawl will start to be on par with MultiVersus when the game launches. This may be the game plan for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, as Hernandez mentioned that the game is going very well for the developers.
Esports Talk reviewed the game and said that the title is a well-made fighting game but lacks in some presentation and modes. However, this may be fixed in next year’s Nick All-Star Brawl update.
