CD Projekt Red Developer Recruits Former BioWare Veteran for New Game Project

Developer CD Projekt Red BioWare – CD Projekt Red is currently actively recruiting new employees, with around 100 positions still open. They attract a wealth of talent from various studios in the gaming industry, as they accelerate the development of their latest projects.

So, recently they recruited a senior figure who was once one of the Directors for the Mass Effect series and has had a career at BioWare for almost 8 years.

Through a post on his X/Twitter account, Dorian Kieken announced that he would join CD Projekt Red as AI Director. He did not specifically explain what game he would be working on directly, but CDPR’s next big game is The Witcher 4.

You need to know, Dorian Kieken is one of the people who founded the Montreal branch of the BioWare studio and served as Development Director for Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3, along with their DLC. After that he was trusted to become Project Development Director for Mass Effect: Andromeda.

It should be noted that the AI ​​Director position held by Kieken refers to machine learning, not generative AI. Machine learning technology itself has long been used in the gaming industry to help AI make smarter decisions, especially in the vast and complex world of RPGs.

He expressed his excitement after 8 years of building memorable RPG games at BioWare and 8 years of building cutting-edge AI solutions at AI Redefined. And after being officially recruited by CDPR, the time finally came when he used his experience for an upcoming game project with the team making the game The Witcher.

Furthermore, Kieken also explained that he would be “responsible for the company’s AI vision and strategy” and that he was also very enthusiastic about joining. Kieken joining CDPR is very interesting because this is not the first time the Polish studio has recruited experienced talent.

About two months ago, Felix Pedulla, who previously worked on Baldur’s Gate 3, officially joined CDPR as their newest Senior Cinematic Designer. Apart from that, the Senior Game Designer for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Karel Kolmann, was also recruited for the position of Senior Quest Designer for The Witcher 4.
