Highguard Shuts Down on March 12, Developer Will Release One Final Update

Highguard shut down its servers on March 12, 2026 and Wildlight Entertainment released one more update for fans.

Wildlight Entertainment announced that their recently launched PvP raid shooter, Highguard, is closing permanently this month. Even though it’s already next week, the team will still release one final update that will bring new content and developments to the game.

This isn’t a surprise at all, but it’s sad to know that Highguard is closing because it wasn’t actually a bad game. Definitely not as bad as the reception. Of course there were problems when it launched but those things develop over time and unfortunately that won’t be the case. In the end, these things happen. Just ask Concord.

From its announcement at Gamescom 2025 until its release, it was a surprise for the team and community. And then within a month of coming out, there were already signs that it was on life support. Websites going dark, layoffs, and a 5v5 pivot all point to what we have today. Wildlight Entertainment officially closed the game on March 12, 2026.

In a statement released on their X and Steam accounts, the team shared that they were unable to build a sustainable player base to support the game in the long term. They also thanked the players who believed in what they were building.

Even though the end was in sight, the team didn’t just give up. The final update will be released tonight or tomorrow morning which includes new Guardians, new weapons, account level progression, and skill trees. They do have that roadmap, so if they’ve done the work, it makes sense to make it public.

The live service arena is very difficult. Harmony. Meat King. High Guard. And there’s another one coming out tomorrow, hopefully for the best.
