The case of Ubisoft employees being laid off occurs again, this time experienced by the Ghost Recon Studio Team

Ubisoft Ghost Recon employee – Since its founding in 1996, Red Storm Entertainment has been an integral part of the Tom Clancy series. The studio worked on several early Ghost Recon games and contributed to a number of Rainbow Six games.

Apart from that, they also worked on The Division Heartland and the Splinter Cell VR game, but both ended up being canceled by Ubisoft. Now, these two cancellations seem to be a sign of bigger bad news as Red Storm has just lost most of its employees and the studio’s future is shrouded in uncertainty.

What really happened?

According to internal sources obtained by GamesIndustry.biz, the new Ubisoft company has carried out mass layoffs of 105 employees at Red Storm Entertainment, which is the Ghost Recon studio team.

This is not the first time because the North Carolina-based studio has experienced something similar before, when 19 employees were laid off in June 2025 as part of efficiency efforts.

The reason given by Ubisoft is still the same, namely restructuring to reduce expenses. They have repeatedly voiced this step amidst the pressure of ever-increasing operational costs, plus the weakening purchasing power of players for their games.

Not only about layoffs, Red Storm also experienced a significant change in role. The studio no longer functions as a game development studio as usual, but has shifted to focus on developing the Snowdrop game engine, as well as handling some IT services and customer support.

Not the first time this has happened this year

Red Storm is the latest Ubisoft studio to be hit by a wave of layoffs amid the company’s massive restructuring efforts. Previously, in February 2026, Ubisoft’s office in Toronto had already laid off around 40 employees or around 8% of the total employees there.

At that time, Ubisoft called the layoffs the “final phase” of their savings program, so it is unclear whether the recent mass layoffs at Red Storm are still part of the same plan or actually signal a change in direction.

PakarPBN

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.

In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
